This guide needs to go! It's painful to use..

Now here me out, I have a crazy idea, I know I know you are gonna think this is nuts but again, hear me out..

Why not..

Just put the events in order from top to bottom in the order of the date??? I know, it's crazy, unorthodox but it's crazy enough to work..

Guess what, we're totally in agreement with you. But read the fun tag that says "Beta". We're open to suggestions, and this is valid. Ryan and I discussed this very thing at lunch last week. "It's hard to follow" was the general consensus.

Again, our development staff of 1 (that can work on TNL) is occupied at the moment.

Duly noted, and we're gonna work on it.

The guide is powered by a very complex machine and I'm far more focused right now on the machine than the guide that comes out of it. First things first. Today is a big deadline for Venue Driver. For the serious workhorse side of it, not the guide.

What Ryan said. It's go time for that project here at the HQ. I'm tempted to close the door on Ryan and isolate him from the outside world.

The next improvements to the guide will be about fixing the jumble down the page, making it a neat row of flyers. And a search box. And a city selector. We have a huge pile of information from Vegas that we're not publishing because I'm just too busy supporting the management of the events to worry about calendar web sites.

Between Venue Driver and Talk Nightlife there is ONE developer. That's why this is taking some time. My two new part-timers have been a big help in testing things but they're not contributing much code yet and they won't be up to speed for many weeks.

I called TNL "alpha" when that was appropriate. An alpha is not feature-complete. When it's feature-complete but not yet perfect it's "beta". You keep pointing out that it's not perfect. I do not dispute this. Therefore "beta" is the appropriate label.

I hate to say it but he has a point. You guys know I love ya but you have to stop saying that this isn't important and you're working on your "real" project. Is this site a business? Is it intended to make money, fill a need in the community, enhance your ultimate goals with VD? If the answer is yes, you should treat it as you do the other thing.

You've missed the point. Talknightlife is not not important. It is an ancillary feature of a bigger machine that is getting most of the attention right now. The entire project is "real" but resources are limited and currently focused on the engine of it all.

They said they'd fix it... when they can. End of story.
