I agree with you but I wonder how it could have been avoided. In the OJ case, I never understood the racial division but, in this case, I think the case spawned the racial issues.

The kid was clearly profiled by Zimmerman. The cops, not as clearly, appeared to have done the same. I think we can all be reasonably sure that had the black guy been holding the gun and the lighter skinned man been the dead one, the police would never have decided to not charge and arrest the killer. Just my opinion but I think that sometimes the race card is played appropriately.

I'm just wondering how many people have suffered as a result of the media sensationalism surrounding the case? They knew exactly what they were doing when they stirred up this pot. How many blacks have taken out their anger on whites, and how many whites have returned the favor? This shit turned out exactly like I knew it would. Blacks and whites are now clinging more tightly to their stererotypes about each other than ever before, acting like a bunch of savage jungle dwellers.

Agreed but....you're ignoring the point in favor of your own narrative. Racism does exist and black people are more often than not the victims of that racism. Yes, there is a shitload of wolf crying but that doesn't mean that this case was not a legitimate racial issue. The inference in your posts is that this was all a media creation. While that's certainly true sometimes, it's not true all the time. Sometimes there really is a wolf, no?

Dade, you really should turn off American Idol and read Propoganda by Edward Bernays. This was the handbook that Goebbels used in manipulating the Germans into an irrational hatred toward Jews. Sure, many of them already harbored these views, much like Archie Bunker. But once Goebbels stirred them up into a frenzy with carefully placed news reports and other propoganda techniques, you had atrocities like Kristallnact and other artifically generated hate crimes began to occur throughout the country. It was as much his fault as the people who carried out the attacks. I consider such manipulation of people to be as evil as the racism itself, and the fact is, the unlettered peasants of this country are no match for the propoganda warriors of corporate media, who are using this case to multiply hate and division among the masses. if you thought I was excusing Zimmerman's behavior, than you are as unlettered and one-dimensionally minded as the peasants who are being manipulated.

Do you believe that Treyvon Martin would have appeared "suspicious" to George Zimmerman if he had been white? The media had nothing to do with that, did they? Or, is your position that the media is responsible for George Zimmerman's instinctual reaction of fear when he saw a black man walking down his street?

Chances are Martin Sr. is not the only black resident in the complex. The "profiling" charge is convenient.
