I totally wanted the 3DO FZ-1. I remember Wired did an article on it that hailed it as the Second Coming.

So much for that.

90% of Vice stories fall into 3 categories: global warming, porn, or ISIS.

Vice used to be fun. Like the time they did that story about the donkeys in parts of Colombia. It led to multiple drunken discussions with regards to el burro and a certain local DJ who hung around with us. He was a good sport about it though.

Now they've just sunken to the level of virtue-signaling for the Wynwood kids.

I love Vice.

Over the last couple of months, I have realized that Vice's biggest rival at the moment is FUSION. Yes, there is a Hipster element to these channels and the stories, but they focus on more than just those three topics.

I find both channels extremely entertaining, but then again many others find Bravo, Travel Channel and TruTV etc

Re: Vice getting its own Cable Channel "Viceland"

The nice thing is, nowadays, if I don't want Vice, I don't have to pay for it. Cord cutting for the win.

I'm almost to the point of being that jerk in the classic Onion article of "Area Man Doesn't Own TV".

Now if they get back to exposes on the habits of El Burro, I might bring it back. Level, you were there on the blue site, we beat on the Chib mercilessly about el burro.

Are teens really Vice's target demographic?

Plus, anything controlled and castrated by Disney isn't cool to anyone over the age of 12.

Vice is for precocious teens with delusions of being social justice warriors, as well as 20somethings who get off on that sort of thing. And 30somethings who regret the missing the opportunity to be an insufferable, lecturing asshole.

Bring back unusual and weird stories like el burro, stop the lecturing, and win back viewers.

And double down on music.

There's actually a LOT of interesting (and scary for some corporations) information in there.

The #1 coolest item is Youtube, which is interesting considering it's actually one of the oldest social media still around

But, more than that, look how bad McDonald's rates. That should be the real story. Nobody cares about a tiny company like Vice, but McDonald's is a multi-billion dollar franchise and it is getting one of the lowest ratings by 13-17 year olds? This should be their bread and butter and is the future of their company. This bodes really bad for them in a decade. I mean, if you're not addicted to MickyD's by the time you're 13, you're probably not going to ever be.

Regardless of the ingredients, it's probably because the menu at McDonald's is complete shit. Your average kid is all about Taco Bell if they were to choose a fast food joint. Green apple splatters be damned.
