The biggest reason that it sucked is that you had to spend five minutes logging in, every single time you used it. Saving that five minutes every time I needed to jump online was why got a mobile hotspot.

I didn't miss the public wi-fi when they shut it off since it was spotty and slow and you had to go through a login process every time you used it. I got an LTE hotspot instead and now I use a hotspot on my phone(s).

The public wi-fi was just a gimmick from the company that wanted the contract to install the city's wi-fi system, and the city used it to justify the expense. They still have a wi-fi system (see: http://forum.talknightlife.com/viewtopi ... =6&t=29218 ) but it's only for the city to use, not people in the city.
