I think the most interesting part of this is that the Founding Fathers who created the 2nd Amendment were very concerned by two things for their new little country, and this is why they wanted to institutionalize a well-trained militia that anyone could be part of. Their first concern was invasion or re-invasion by outside forces, a concern validated when the British re-invaded in 1812. The second being the takeover of the government by authoritarians who would erode the rights just so recently hard-fought won.

Sounds like you probably just got done reading certain pages on Facebook.

Actually, no, that's why I was asking.

But, that has always been my contention with the NRA's stance. Their primary claim is that the 2nd Amendment is designed to protect citizens' rights to own guns to shoot other Americans with who might be bothering them. That was never the intent. Any reading of historic documents show that was not what they were concerned with. They were concerned about invasion and about the reinstatement of a despotic government internally. That's it.

Those cops were not set up for success. LE training is in the shitter these days.

Ms Pod and I know more about the use of force continuum than some cops, it seems.

Maybe we should get our LE certifications.

It'd be like X-Files except with a BMW instead of a Ford Crown Vic and crackheads instead of aliens.

Though the crackheads could be aliens.

Everything about this incident is utterly insane
http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/c ... 60077.html

Of course, it was all started when some cowardly fucktard panicked and called the police in the first place. But, the lack of ability on the cops' part is just beyond belief.

He was shooting at someone who was sitting peacefully.
Nobody was listening to the words of the victim, who was trying to explain the situation.
HE MISSED A PERSON SITTING STILL!

Yep.

It was a perfect storm of government incompetence and panic.

Innocent mistakes.

Police officer shoots and kills family dog during boy’s fifth birthday party

Franklin reportedly explained to the family that the dog had tried to attack him through the fence.
Wynnewood Police Chief Ken Moore said that the officer was serving a warrant which gave him the legal authority to be on private property. The warrant for Shon McNiel was from a 10-year-old case that listed the Malone's house as the suspect's last known address.

West Virginia cop fired for not killing a man with an unloaded gun

We’ve tracked countless cases here where cops were able to keep their jobs after killing unarmed people, killing people after responding to the wrong house, killing people and then lying about it . . . the list goes on.

Give the Weirton, W.Va., police chief some credit. He’s come up with a new spin on the the same problem. He just fired a cop for not killing someone.

"Isolated incidents"

The Chicago Police Department has unconstitutionally engaged in a pattern of excessive force innocent mistakes, US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Friday, wrapping up a 13-month federal probe of a department that has been under heavy scrutiny over officer-involved shootings.
