The Armory - Online Weapons Store

You need to know how to use Tor to get on it. Basically it's an arms bazaar.

You know me, I'm a freedom nut, but I happen to believe that deadly weapons need a certain amount of control ascribed to their purchase. Basically I think the final acquisition needs to be done person-to-person.

You can actually buy weapons online via normal websites, but they get shipped from the dealer, to a dealer close to you, where you do the final paperwork and acquire your piece.

This site basically ships 'em to you in pieces and you have to put it all together. Interesting proof of concept, but a little off-putting. Not everyone is a responsible citizen.

Are you sure this isn't an online ATF sting?

It's 450 Bitcoins. You can't tell from my screen shot unfortunately, it's a B with a slash through it. Bitcoins are a supposedly untraceable online currency. The conversion factor is steep. 450 Bitcoins is 4,140 USD. So your AR-15 pictured here costs over $4000.

Kamen, there's a suggestion by the commenters on Giz it's an elaborate ATF sting. I certainly wouldn't use it. Disclaimer, the only reason I have an account there is to have done that screenshot.

Re: The Armory - Online Weapons Store

I doubt the guy who did the horrific crime in Colorado bought his weapon from the Armory. He probably had it in his possession for years and decided to do this. Though the Armory is free from background checks and so forth, it still takes some work to even get to. It's not on the web per se. You have to know how to configure Tor and keep track of the sites on there. Imagine if TNL changed URLs every week. That's kind of how Tor sites are.

Listen, I'm a Second Amendment die-hard, but I'll admit that it's super easy to get weapons in this country off the radar. We TNLers all know people who can equip us in a matter of hours. Bling, I'm sure you could get a firearm by 5PM just by asking around.

Re: The Armory - Online Weapons Store

He bought all of the weapons and ammo legally in Colorado. None of the weapons were registered because Colorado law does not allow for registration of weapons.

He used an AR-15 with a 100 round "drum" clip, which is perfectly legal there. He bought over 6000 rounds of ammo in the last three months, which nobody thought was unusual.

He was wearing full bullet-proof protection from head to foot, including a crotch protector and a neck protector. All of that was also perfectly legal in Colorado.

Why on Earth would anyone possibly need to own an AR-15 with a 100 round clip?

How can anyone make the case that our gun laws are reasonable?

Re: The Armory - Online Weapons Store

Gun law is not reasonable and this question comes up again and again when tragedies like this happen but as always nothing ever changes. The NRA is a strong political group, another reason why gun law is not going to change anytime soon.
