I was reading an Iama on reddit a few months back, there was an out of work director who use to make a lot of money doing commercials, he spoke about how the field is dead as so many kids are graduating from film school thus they pay them virtually nothing to film these commercials. NY Times did a piece on a new film school opening at a university, they never ever had that many students apply to a new major in the history of the school. It's flooded... Plus just look at the tuition costs of the top 20 film schools, on avg they are outrageous.
The world doesn't need more film directors, animators, lawyers, architects.... I'm glad you are excited but to me I just see another instance of our tax payers dollars being wasted on kids who will be saddled with huge debt and a shitty 3 year degree that allows them to get coffee for some executive.

Last time I checked....film/video/animation was the latest and greatest next big thing to be suggested for content fulfillment. Nobody reads anymore...now with all the screens available worldwide and the planned screens to come....there will be a demand for content to fill these screens.
There has always been a significant percentage of students who never follow a career path in their major and this trend will continue.
