Paper: Spike Lee Tweeted Incorrect George Zimmerman Address, Possibly Putting Sanford Woman In Danger

Filmmaker Spike Lee tweeted the wrong home address for George Zimmerman, the Sanford, Fla., man who many are claiming should be arrested for shooting and killing Trayvon Martin. The tweet could have potentially put the woman who actually lives at that address in danger.

The Washington Times’ Kerry Picket went to the address that Lee tweeted as members of the New Black Panther Party were offering a $10,000 cash reward for Zimmerman’s capture, “dead or alive,” and others were demanding his arrest.

“[T]he Edgewater Circle address Mr. Lee re-tweeted out is not part of the gated Retreat at Twin Lakes where the shooting took place and where Mr. Zimmerman lives,” Picket reported. “The area is not even a gated a community.”

“In fact, I took a drive to that Edgewater Circle address that so many on Twitter re-tweeted and cursed, and I discovered through a neighbor, named Tim, who lives across the street from the address, that not only does George Zimmerman not live at the lakeside house but a woman by the name of Elaine does,” Picket added.

Picket also said several news agencies have showed up at the address looking for Zimmerman, which – with the crowds the Panthers, MSNBC’s Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have whipped up into a frenzy – may have put the woman, Elaine, in danger.

It’s unclear specifically which news agencies trekked to the address Lee tweeted and why they failed to report Lee’s inaccuracy.

This report follows new revelations in the Martin case, including Zimmerman’s self-described membership in the Democratic Party, freshly surfaced tweets from Martin’s Twitter account, and Martin’s various suspensions from school.

Spike is a freaking idiot for doing such a thing. Its like the white man posting the address to where to lynch the black man.

This type of action is not acceptable by a black, white, hispanic, indian or asian person. Its plain wrong what Spike just did.

but he is making the colored people look bad.. same with the black panthers.

As much as I hate the Miami Heat... what they did to show support for this "movement" was VERY Classy - No words.. just a picture. That's how you gain support for this.. Not acting like a fool on TV or on Twitter.



What's funny about the Heat this season.. I actually don't hate them like I did last season. Sure, I dislike them but I don't hate them. They have been showing class all season and that is how the game should be played. The Magic on the other hand embarrassed me during the Dwight debacle.

I'm so disgusted by this whole thread.....it took all of my energy to even respond. And before anyone comments...I like many of the community (Black or White) do not agree with the actions of some others....ie. Spike Lee, the New Black Panthers or the local Police dept.

This is a case about an unarmed person who had every right to be where they were being pursued and gunned down.

You ask why the white boy killed by three black boys was not on the news....then I'll ask you why none of the positive done by black business or community leaders are ever brought to the headlines?

Agreed. This case is bound to bring out the worst in many people, as is being proven here. The only reason I chimed in was because of the obviously intentional use of a phrase that everyone knows is insensitive. The real shame is that this could be a chance to make some improvement in the way we all live together and might provide the silver lining we all hope for but, idiots like Icon don't want that.
