In what way did this affect the players or competition on the field? It is horrible and tragic, yes, but taking away the program is nonsense. Everyone involved will pay the price. The students who had nothing to do with it have no price to pay.

I understand what you're saying however word on the street is this had been going on way longer than 1998. OJ Mcduffie said there were rumors of this happening when he was there, and that's when Sandusky was running the defense. Of course this isn't the equivalent of paying for players, this is far worse. This is a coach using his position as a leader at this institution and taking advantage of children. Not only that, but the head coach (Paterno) knew about this, and didn't say a peep, nor did anyone of the higher ups. This is far far worse than paying for players, and a program that allows something this despicable to happen deserves to be eradicated.

Penn State just fired him...

Penn State trustees fired football coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier amid the growing furor over how the school handled sex abuse allegations against an assistant coach.

YES!!!!

And its been said, but the ongoing support for him is just sickening...absolutely shameful...and the media support as well...I actually heard media people stating this was wrong. WOW....WOW...WOW...I'm in shock...what if this was your son, little brother etc how in the world anyone could not see this RIGHT...is beyond me...and some people on campus are saying they are in fear of showing support of the decision because they "dont want to get beat up"!

Its not "mostly" any one specific person's issue as the media is painting it saying Joe Pa did enough....its not enough to report and ignore. If I was in Joe Pa's position I would have done more...A LOT more!

Purpose of your visit?: To rape the horses and ride off on the women [and to prune the hedges of many small villages].

Re: Penn State Sex Scandal

These fans are despicable here's a great quote from one of them on FB

" Joe Paterno. A Legend. A Leager. If you don't go to Penn State, don't talk shit. The man got blackballed by the media. Mazel Tov media. Mazel Tov all. La'chaim to Joe"

I'm really quite stunned by the widespread support. If I was in the same situation I would have gone to the cops immediately. And if I didn't the first time, the second time I heard about such thing, you damn well better believe I'd report it. Simply disgusting.

Re: Penn State Sex Scandal

If the DA knew about the 1998 incident after it happened, why weren't charges pressed much sooner?

Questions on Sandusky Are Wrapped in a 2005 Mystery

The New York Times wrote:One of the questions surrounding the sex-abuse case against Jerry Sandusky is why a former district attorney chose not to prosecute the then-Penn State assistant coach in 1998 after reports surfaced that he had inappropriate interactions with a boy.

The answer is unknowable because of an unsolved mystery: What happened to Ray Gricar, the Centre County, Pa., district attorney?

Image

Gricar went missing in April 2005. The murky circumstances surrounding his disappearance — an abandoned car, a laptop recovered months later in a river without a hard drive, his body was never found — have spawned Web sites, television programs and conspiracy theories. More than six years later, the police still receive tips and reports of sightings. The police in central Pennsylvania continue to investigate even though Gricar’s daughter, Lara, successfully petitioned in July to have her father declared legally dead so the family could find some closure and begin dividing his estate.

Yet as the Sandusky investigation moves forward, questions will be asked anew about why Gricar did not pursue charges against him 13 years ago...

When politicians fuck us in the ass, we shrug our shoulders, roll over and take it. But if some stupid football coach gets fired, oh hell naw, that's where we draw the line...
