easy there tiger. steve bug was confirmed to play in mexico and b/c of the swine flu epidemic canceled the gig and was a last minute pickup for the camea party at space. this wasn't space going out of their way for the booking.

let's be honest here Dan, LP has pretty much given up, thrown his hands in the air and said fuck it i'll try anything at this juncture, let these techno kids have at it. It's great to finally see some big room tech guys at space (and believe me i'll be there to support) but this should've happened years ago and space miami has been so behind the curve its not even funny.

This isn't meant to be a hate space rant but i'm not gonna let anyone sing praises about space either, as though LP is bold and visionary with this booking. The credit for this party goes much further back, to people like Ramon, the Plot kids, We Love Techno guys, Musical Missionary, SoBe beats, etc... It's b/c of them we are going to hear techno at Space now, and anyone who doesn't realize that has been living under a rock for the past few years.

I'm not saying it's "bold and visionary" and yeah I know others have done it at a smaller scale, but it is going out on a limb. Face it, if he was willing to try anything to make a buck, the whole club would be hip hop right now. You want sure-fire money, just play hip-hop.

And I'm fully aware of the conditions of this booking. I guess the techno kids better give thanks to the Swine Gods in part. What I'm getting at is that it's a major risk booking a niche genre in a club that essentially "works" as is, and now they're going beyond local talent in that genre. It's a risk, and if they don't see the support, they're not gonna do it anymore. No one told me that, it's just how any club operates.

Remember when they tried drum n bass in the loft a few years ago? They booked some pretty heavy names. Not a lot of people showed, and that was that. Back to hip hop.

What I'm getting at is that a lot of you guys are as political as me when it comes to clubs. I've got my reasons for not going to parties, and so do you guys. But if it's something beneficial to me, I'll put my politics in my back pocket and go somewhere I wouldn't ordinarily go. Big club is booking a big techno DJ. That's actually really cool. I'm not really into the sound, but it's better than yet another hip hop night. A major player in town is delivering to your sound. It's time for everyone who's complained to show up and support.

Wish we could we tried to arrange Bug for the patio but unfortunately they only want house and tribal outside in the patio and techno inside the loft.
