Also in that article I noticed this ...

Lightstone Group is planning Moxy South Beach, a seven-story, 202-room boutique hotel to replace aging storefronts at 915-947 Washington Avenue.

That means 500+ new hotel rooms in a relatively small area of South Beach.

Most Beach hotels are only "profitable" on the Pro-Formas the brokers use to try and find some rich idiot to buy one of these moneypits.
