AVB at Mansion review.

This was my first time in Mansion since the remodel so a group of us deceided to go check out Armin. Ive always had fun at Armin shows cause he generally knows how to play to the crowd. We get there right around 12 and walk in will call. Jochen Miller was the opening DJ and he had the place going. The place was probably 60% full at this point. I really liked the lay out versus thr old lay out. The DJ booth being moved and a large space in front of it for dancing. By the time Armin came on at 2 the place was close to capacity. However unlike previous Armin shows while u did have your trance heads and what not, the ratio was at worst 50/50 girl to guy. And im talking about hot females, not skanky ones. As far as the music Armin played his new stuff as well as some of his vocal tracks which had chicks singing along. Armin almost has a cult following as I met a couple that both had matching AVB tatoos (weird). And on a personal level I hate that damn heart asymbol everyone does. Overall besides the crazy drink prices which I expected the night was full of cool people having fun. Armin kept the crowd wanting more and he played til almost 5:45. Overall was impressed with the new layout. The music was great and the amount of skirt was also nice. And closing anybody that spends 50 dollars on those mesh sunglasses should check into rehab.

I take my opinion back it is awesome. Im going to walk around doing it to everyone I meet. Lol Its even worse when u have guys doing it.

They do close at 5 but they let him play longer. I think the bar was shut down though.

Armin always has good parties and a lot more chicks than normal for trance (normal meaning none)

overall, a great night but mostly due to the fact that armin is on a different level than every other DJ out there. he came out HARD and was thumping for the first hour. 2nd hour slowed down and the last hour was a perfect blend of everything. he got on the mic at 5 and said we're supposed to shut down but lets keep going and went on to play about half an hour's worth of classics. i was in heaven.

on the other hand - the place was RAMMED the entire night (until 445ish). i got there around 1 and my group (me, gf, best friend + his girl so only 4 of us) couldn't find a place to stand and have just a little room to move/dance for an hour. for some reason, mansion seems to always have a pretty obnoxious crowd. over half the space in club is for VIP. typical.

aside from space, i wish miami had another spot that was more party-friendly rather than VIP-friendly that brought big name DJs so that actual fans of the music could enjoy a night out without having to be all dressed up and surrounded by douchebags. unfortunately, i think that's an oxymoron because you need the douches to spend their money in order to bring in the DJs.

had to catch a plane back up north last night otherwise i would've also checked out A&B at amnesia as well.

Caught Armin a couple of weeks ago at Royale Boston - epic party, three hour set, 50/50 ratio. The man was smiling and beaming all night long.

The heart symbols and Jesus poses are silly but that's just part of his personal brand. Everybody I know that's met him says he's incredibly humble, almost shy even, yet very down to earth.

I said hello to him after his set at Opium once, had to be 2002/2003 or so. I was with a Dutch couple and they just wanted to say they enjoyed the night. He was an asshole and blew us off. I stopped listening to him that day. Fuck him.

Wow....that's surprising. Armin is a really nice guy.
