Well since we aren't making money here, we have no reason to quadruple the traffic. I think what Sean is asking for is a sharing function, not "Facebook Connect". Basically a Tweet button or a "Share to FB" button. We have a Tweet button, but only Tech, myself, and Michelle can see it. However, the Tweet button is broken.

I would never put Facebook Connect on here. Because, believe it or not, I actually want to make it a little difficult for people to sign up on here. There's an obnoxious CAPTCHA and also all new arrivals are checked manually by a human. I'll let any legit human through the gates, it's really just a preventative measure to stop Indonesian spammers. However, it does give me a certain perspective on who we're attracting.

I'm well aware I'm being elitist and exclusive, but I personally flat out don't want certain types of people on here, and I'm sure you guys don't either. Can you imagine if people like Ultra Savage, Mekka Savage, and South Beach Savage could just post here by virtue of being logged into Facebook? It'd be a mess we wouldn't have time to deal with, and our model of "self-moderation" would be thrown out the window. We'd either have to come up with a business plan to make money to afford the time to manage the forum, or we'd have to give up and just let it crash and burn. Frankly, I like our little slice of life here just the way it is. Big business and commercial interests ruined our last community, after all.

I don't mind the lurkers and viewers, but I'd rather limit the participatory traffic to those who know what they're doing.

Dade, if L is who I think she is (I'm not 100% certain but the clues seam pretty clear cut) you might want to check her backstory and cut her some slack.

SobeKing, enjoy being young, attractive and rich, but please don't blow all that family money on nightclubs, booze and blow.

That UM degree in that field is pretty much worthless as far as future income and employment are concerned (just ask Pod) so save your millions.

this is exactly why you should find ways to increase the traffic. Much easier to monetize something if you have the traffic data to support some advertisers investing in brand placement.

True. Thing is, we don't really want to monetize it right now. It's just not a priority. We're in a rare situation where no one expects a return on this. We built this as a weapon, the weapon was deployed and hit it's target and now it's just here for your enjoyment.

If we ever have to monetize it, expect a lot of the freedoms you enjoy on here to go away.

That's why I'm telling everyone to be careful before they drop a name or a photo. Only out Sobeking if you have concrete evidence. I really wish they'd speak up on their own. If they are a millionaire they can take care of themselves.
