Christian Smith: The art of big room noise

Great interview from the man, Christian Smith. I always enjoy getting the inside scoop from my favorite producers :)

Over in London from his permanent base in Sao Paulo, we caught up with Christian Smith to gain an in depth insight into the production process behind his ‘big room’ sound, his relationship with long-time collaborator John Selway and his thoughts on the oft-discussed ‘minimal bandwagon’…

Christian Smith & John Selway’s ‘Total Departure’ has been causing a ‘moment’ on dance floors worldwide since its release at the beginning of the May. Simple, but stunning in its efficiency, the track embodied the sound that as producers Smith and Selway had been threatening for over ten years.

Equally as adept to releasing solo these days, Smith swiftly followed up with ‘Flyertalk/Friendly Skies’ for Bedrock Records; a track markedly removed from the sound of ‘Total Departure’ but no less stunning.
